The individual shall provide services to students in a 6:1:1 classroom setting for fifth through seventh grade in general science. The individual must have knowledge of students with significant emotional and behavioral disabilities, including cognitive delays. Strong behavior management and leadership skills, and the ability to modify curriculum to meet students’ needs are required. The individual must be a team player and work collaboratively with support staff. Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training, an understanding of autism, and best practices in working with students with disabilities is preferred. Experience with writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), including progress monitoring, is desired. The individual must have or be eligible for appropriate (special education) teaching certification upon hire and a science certificate with a general science extension. Regular attendance and dependability are required. Other responsibilities may be assigned. Assignment is subject to change.
